The Kinnow is a cross fruit, closely related to the Mandarin but with a unique taste. This is primarily due to the soil constituency and climate under which they are grown in Punjab, Pakistan from November to March.
The Brief Grading / Processing Step
Handpicked Kinnows are carefully, pre-sorted at the farm. This process eliminates unwanted fruits from being transported to the packing house. It is important that all handpicked Kinnows are carefully transported for packing, where 20 Kgs plastic bins are used.
Once Kinnows arrive at the packing house, they are drenched withThiabendazole (TBZ).
Kinnows which are filled in the plastic bins then carefully placed on a sorting conveyor, where skilled workers hand-check Kinnows and reject low quality or unwanted pieces.
Clean, drinking water is sprayed to remove field dirt. The water is regularly checked and tested at the laboratory to ensure purity and cleanliness.
lt is important to dry Kinnows after washing, before they are coated with wax.
Waxing and Application of Funjicide
Fungicide, together with wax is applied after the drying process. The fungicide and wax, namelyThaibendozole and Imazalil, are imported from EU countries and comply with international standards of EU,HACCP.
Post Wax Drying
